According to Главком: The Darnytskyi District Court in Kyiv has sentenced a Russian citizen to 12 years in prison for a violent robbery against a member of a mobile fire group, a military unit tasked with countering drone threats. The assault occurred in March 2023 on Kharkivske Highway. The court also ordered the confiscation of the defendant's property.

The 39-year-old defendant was found guilty of attacking a 36-year-old soldier, whose duties include shooting down drones over Kyiv, with the intent to steal his belongings. The assailants took the serviceman's phone, watch, and wallet. During the attack, the victim was beaten unconscious. As he began to regain consciousness, the attackers returned and continued to kick him in the head.

Case Details

The defendant had an accomplice who died from a drug overdose before the verdict was delivered. The Russian national had been released from prison just two months prior to the crime, having served over 20 years. With the support of prosecutors from the Darnytskyi District Prosecutor's Office, the court convicted him under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
