Контрабандне судно з українським зерном уникнуло затримання в Ізраїлі: деталі нового пакету санкцій.

The Panormitis Vessel Incident

According to Главком: The cargo ship Panormitis has left Israeli waters and moved into neutral territory after Ukraine initiated legal proceedings. Israel had begun acting on a Ukrainian request regarding the vessel, which arrived in Haifa on April 27 carrying 6,200 tons of wheat and over 19,000 tons of barley. However, the company 'Tsentziper' refused to unload the ship at the Port of Haifa.

According to Ukraine's Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, Israeli authorities started processing the request based on evidence provided by the Ukrainian side. The Panormitis reached Haifa around 01:07 Kyiv time. Prior to this, the ship had been anchored at the Port of Kavkaz within Russian territorial waters.

Ukraine-Israel Diplomacy

Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Israeli Ambassador Michael Brodsky to discuss the matter. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also announced preparations for a new sanctions package in response to events involving the ship.

“Such behavior may indicate an awareness of the risk that the vessel and its cargo could face criminal procedural measures, including arrest.”

Ruslan Kravchenko

Kravchenko further noted that 'the ship's departure into neutral waters does not halt the criminal proceedings nor absolve those involved from accountability.' Ukraine is continuing its procedural work, monitoring the movement of all Russian vessels and leveraging every available international legal cooperation mechanism to seize assets and hold all participants in the scheme responsible.

The situation has drawn significant attention, with observers closely tracking developments. The vessel tracking service VesselFinder has confirmed the Panormitis's movement.

This unfolding event underscores the strained relations between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the critical role of international collaboration in justice and security matters. Ship tracking and sanctions enforcement are part of Ukraine's broader strategy to counter Russian aggression and protect its interests on the global stage.
