Svyatoslav Vakarchuk's Visit to a DTEK Thermal Power Plant

According to Главком: During a visit to a destroyed DTEK thermal power station, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, the frontman of the band 'Okean Elzy', met with energy workers and performed a concert in their support. In his address, he stressed the critical need for international assistance to rebuild Ukraine's energy grid, which has sustained massive damage from the ongoing war. The conflict has placed immense strain on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, making such support vital for survival through the winter.

Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, the DTEK thermal power plants owned by Rinat Akhmetov have been attacked more than 220 times. Vakarchuk stated that:

'They are constantly destroying our energy facilities in Ukraine. That is precisely why your support is so crucial. That is why it holds such immense significance, and we are grateful for this support. Please, continue to help and support us, because it saves the lives of Ukrainians. And it makes our resistance stronger.' Svyatoslav Vakarchuk

Furthermore, Vakarchuk expressed his admiration for the energy workers who, risking their lives under constant shelling, do everything possible to provide light and heat to Ukrainian homes. 'They are true heroes,' he noted. This visit and concert served as a powerful reminder of the resilience of the Ukrainian people and the necessity of support during these difficult times.

The Critical Need to Support the Energy Sector

This event underscores the importance of backing Ukraine's energy sector during the conflict, as these workers play a critical role in sustaining the population's livelihood. By expressing gratitude to the energy workers, Vakarchuk highlights their courage and dedication, which can help mobilize both domestic and international support for restoring the devastated infrastructure. Their efforts are fundamental to maintaining societal function and national morale.
