Sweden's Keep Ukraine Warm Campaign Raises Millions for Energy Support
Sweden Launches Keep Ukraine Warm Fundraiser
According to Главком: Sweden has launched a fundraising campaign called Keep Ukraine Warm to support Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The initiative, which received backing from the Ukrainian embassy, partnered with the long-established and highly respected Swedish charity Radiohjälpen. Remarkably, the campaign raised 400,000 euros within the first five minutes of its televised broadcast. This rapid response highlights the strong public support for Ukraine in Sweden.
Campaign Goals and International Support
The campaign aims not only to collect funds but also to forge a partnership coordinating the efforts of businesses and Swedish energy companies. Organizer Svitlana Zalishchuk noted they had never seen such a rapid influx of donations before. She added that further announcements will be made when the equipment purchased with these funds is dispatched to Ukraine. This initiative comes as Ukraine faces a critical winter with its energy grid under repeated attack.
Alongside this financial aid from Sweden, Kyiv has received a new batch of humanitarian assistance from France in the form of electricity generators. A total of 30 generators with a combined capacity of 3.4 MW have arrived in the Ukrainian capital. Previously, Kyiv also received backup power supplies from Poland as humanitarian aid. This demonstrates broad international solidarity and a readiness to assist Ukraine during a difficult period.
The Keep Ukraine Warm campaign is a significant initiative showcasing active international support for Ukraine, particularly from Sweden. The collection of funds and material aid during an energy crisis reflects a shared desire to help Ukraine overcome the challenges posed by the ongoing war. Engaging businesses and energy companies in this effort could contribute not only to immediate financial relief but also to Ukraine's future infrastructure stability.
