Switzerland Tightens Sanctions Over Russia's War in Ukraine

The Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research has revised annexes 2 and 8 of the ordinance covering measures linked to the situation in Ukraine. Exactly 9 individuals and 45 organizations were added to the Annex 8 sanctions register, and entries for 11 already-listed people and entities were updated.

Who Is on the Updated Sanctions List

The new designations include representatives of Russia's industrial and defense sectors. Among them are Rostec executive director Oleg Yevtushenko, Alexey Rakhmanov, former head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, and businessman Tahir Garayev.

This expansion reflects Switzerland's response to Moscow's actions in Ukraine and its support for international stability. It also fits into a broader effort by Western European countries to pressure Russia and help protect Ukraine's security.

As Switzerland intensifies its sanctions, it mirrors similar actions taken by other nations. Recently, in response to airstrikes, the EU and the UK have also implemented sanctions aimed at holding Russia accountable for its military actions.
