Svitolina loses WTA 500 semifinal in Stuttgart
The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina was unable to reach the final of the WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart, losing in the semifinal to Czech Karolina Muchova. The match ended in three sets. This is reported by Suspilne.
Svitolina in Stuttgart: how the semifinal match went
The match was fought in a tense battle and ended with a score of 4:6, 6:2, 4:6 in favor of Muchova.
In the first set, the Ukrainian allowed her opponent to make two breaks at the start and found herself playing catch-up. Despite attempts to reduce the gap, the set ended with victory for the Czech tennis player.
Svitolina started the second set much more actively, leading 3:0. She managed to convert a break point on the seventh attempt and confidently took the set to victory - 6:2.
In the deciding set, the tennis players were evenly matched up to a score of 4:4, after which Muchova seized the initiative and won the key games.
WTA 500 semifinal: what the result means for Svitolina
This semifinal was Svitolina's fifth in the 2026 season. Previously, the Ukrainian had shown stable results in tournaments of various levels.
