Deadly Terrorist Attack in Lviv

According to Главком: A terrorist bombing in Lviv on the night of February 22 resulted in multiple casualties. The incident occurred near the 'Magnus' shopping center in the city center. The initial explosion killed 23-year-old police officer Viktoriia Shpilka. A further 25 people were wounded, the majority of whom were police officers and soldiers from the National Guard.

Tragically, on February 22, 30-year-old National Guard serviceman Yosyf Pavlynskyi, originally from the village of Bakivtsi in the Lviv region, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. His death is a profound loss for his family, which includes his wife and young daughter. Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi expressed his sincere condolences to the family, stating:

"That evening, he arrived at the explosion site alongside other emergency services. He was helping to push people back and create a secure perimeter. It was at that moment the second explosion occurred. The Lviv community mourns with you."

Suspect Apprehended and Charged

Law enforcement officers have detained a 33-year-old woman from Kostopil in the Rivne region as the primary suspect in the attack. The court has ordered her to be held in custody for 60 days without the possibility of bail. During a hearing at the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv, the suspect claimed she was unaware of the contents of a package she left in a trash container on Danylyshyna Street. Investigators have also released surveillance footage that reportedly shows her preparing for the crime.

This attack serves as a stark reminder of the persistent dangers faced by Ukrainian security forces and military personnel. The deaths of these young individuals, who were performing their duty, have resonated deeply across the nation, underscoring the critical need for support in combating terrorism.
