Ternopil has begun a large-scale update of electric transport. The first two new Electron trolleybuses have already arrived in the city, and the delivery of three more vehicles is expected in the coming days. After the completion of testing, the new transport will go into service and start transporting passengers. This was reported by the Ternopil City Council.

New Electron trolleybuses are undergoing testing

The first trolleybuses have already been delivered to Ternopil and are designed in the city's corporate style.

Currently, the transport is undergoing the necessary technical tests before entering regular operation.

The city council states that three more new vehicles are expected to arrive by June 1, after which the fleet of electric transport will be replenished with the first batch of five trolleybuses.

New transport adapted for passengers with limited mobility

All new trolleybuses are low-floor and 12 meters long.

Among the main advantages of the new transport:

  1. Cabin air conditioning system

  2. Surveillance cameras

  3. Retractable ramp for wheelchairs

  4. Special seats for passengers with limited mobility

  5. Modern electronic equipment

City authorities emphasize that the new rolling stock is designed to make trips more comfortable and accessible for all categories of passengers.

In two years, Ternopil will receive 44 new trolleybuses

The purchase of new vehicles is part of a large-scale public transport modernization program.

By the end of 2026, it is planned to launch 17 new trolleybuses on Ternopil's routes.

Another 27 units of electric transport are expected to arrive in 2027.

Thus, over the course of two years, Ternopil's fleet will be replenished with 44 modern trolleybuses, which will be one of the largest updates to urban electric transport in recent years.

As a reminder, the total cost of the project is 2 million euros excluding VAT and customs duties.
