According to Главком: A terrorist attack in Lviv on February 22, 2026, resulted in the death of 23-year-old patrol officer Viktoriia Shpylka and left 24 others wounded. The incident occurred around 00:30 on Danylyshyna Street after police crews responded to a call about a break-in at a store. Following their arrival, explosions took place, prompting 25 people to seek medical aid. Currently, 20 patients remain under medical supervision, with three individuals in critical condition in intensive care. This attack underscores the persistent security threats faced by Ukrainian cities during the ongoing conflict.
Official Response and Aftermath
Law enforcement has detained a woman suspected of carrying out the explosions; the arrest was made in one of the district centers of the Lviv region. Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi stated that investigative actions are ongoing and that order will be restored at the scene once they conclude.
"As you can see, investigative actions are still underway. Once they are completed, we will immediately begin to restore order here," said Sadovyi.
The city is preparing compensation for those affected by the terrorist act. Specifically, 12,000 hryvnias will be paid for broken windows, and vouchers for restoration will be provided to local businesses. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko also commented on the situation, emphasizing the importance of security amid the country's tense circumstances. Andrii Sadovyi stressed that:
"Russia, by launching drones and missiles, is also employing terrorist acts as a tool to intimidate people. I am convinced that none of this will succeed."
