Tetiana Serba: Commitment Amidst Adversity

According to Державна міграційна служба: Tetiana Serba, a lead specialist at the Kherson branch of Ukraine’s State Migration Service, remains dedicated to her work in Kherson despite the challenges posed by active hostilities and occupation. With over 27 years of experience in law enforcement and migration services, she plays a crucial role supporting local residents during these turbulent times. Following the city's liberation, she resumed her duties on November 16, 2022.

Bringing Services Directly to the Community

As part of her responsibilities, Tetiana spearheads a pilot initiative to provide mobile consultations in Kherson’s neighborhoods, a program developed by regional migration authorities. This approach ensures that citizens can access essential services even amid frequent enemy shelling, power outages, and communication disruptions. Although the frontline continues to inch closer to Kherson, Tetiana and her team work tirelessly to reduce risks posed by hostile drones and artillery.

Her two decades of driving experience prove invaluable in conducting these mobile outreach efforts. Reflecting on her motivation, Tetiana shares:

“Every morning in Kherson feels like the start of a new life. What keeps me going is caring for my elderly father, dreaming of seeing my daughter and future grandchildren, and the desire to help my fellow townspeople during these difficult times.”

When returning to Kherson, she followed her heart, fully aware of her responsibilities toward her hometown and its people. She describes each mobile visit as a form of personal renewal:

“Each outreach trip is like a cleansing ritual that eases my conscience at the end of the day because I know my colleagues and I have contributed to bringing Victory closer.”

Tetiana’s unwavering dedication stems from a mindset focused on contributing positively rather than resisting. Her love for Kherson and its residents fuels her daily efforts, expressed in her words: “My city – I am always invisibly wrapped in your embrace.”
