Russian athlete-Larins won silver in Europe: scandal details

According to glavcom.ua: Russian Olympic champion Vladislav Larin won silver at the European Championship. The notorious athlete lost to his compatriot in the final in the weight category over 80 kg, which took place in Switzerland.

After winning the championship, Larin participated in a propaganda event where he called for support for Russian soldiers involved in the war with Ukraine. Also, due to his support for the conflict in Ukraine, Larin was disqualified from participating in the 2024 Olympics.

Russian athletes continue to participate in international competitions despite sanctions. For example, speed skater Oleksandra Saitina has already received visas to participate in the upcoming World Cup stages in the USA and Canada, where ranking points for the 2026 Olympics in Italy will be at stake.
