Top 5 high-profile investigations by NABU in 2025: what became a turning point
The year 2025 became one of the most resonant for Ukraine's anti-corruption system. Despite political pressure, attempts to limit its powers, and scandals surrounding information leaks, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau proved that it can handle the most sensitive cases. The results of the year were summarized by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak in a video blog dedicated to key NABU investigations.
According to him, 2025 effectively demonstrated the results of a decade of building an anti-corruption infrastructure and became a turning point for trust in investigations against top officials.

The most high-profile case of the year was the special operation 'Midas'. This concerns a large-scale investigation in the energy sector with a total damage of about 100 million dollars. According to Zheleznyak's estimates, this is the largest case in NABU's history in terms of impact, as it has affected not only state enterprises but also the closest entourage of power.

The second position was held by the suspicion against former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshev. The mere fact of announcing suspicion against a high-ranking official with close ties to the state leadership sent a signal that there are no untouchables anymore. According to the MP, this case triggered attempts of political pressure on NABU and SAP in the summer of 2025.

The third place was awarded to the operation 'Clean City', aimed against corruption schemes in Kyiv. The investigation revealed large-scale abuses involving land and the participation of several officials and deputies, demonstrating effective operational work by detectives.

Fourth in the rankings was the case of the so-called 'eggs for 17'. In 2025, NABU transitioned from a loud scandal to legal consequences, announcing suspicions in a case regarding the embezzlement of over 770 million UAH in food procurement for the military.

What awaits further investigations
According to Zheleznyak, in 2025 NABU also worked on less publicized but no less large-scale cases - from corruption in drone procurement to medical equipment for cancer patients. Particular attention was drawn to searches at the head of the President's Office, the details of which may become known as early as the beginning of 2026.
