Classified Directive Raises National Defense Concerns

According to Главком: Facing a severe depletion of U.S. military arsenals amid an all-out war with Iran, President Donald Trump has exercised executive authority to activate the Defense Production Act. The move was documented in a classified memorandum dated June 11 and addressed to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. The document warns that conditions now exist which could pose a direct threat to national defense or its readiness programs, underscoring the gravity of the situation. This wartime-era law, originally passed in 1950, gives the president broad powers to direct industrial production for national security needs.

The memorandum also acknowledges the limited capacity of the U.S. military-industrial complex and broken supply chains that are hampering the nation's ability to meet defense requirements. In response, Secretary Hegseth met with Senate Republicans on Capitol Hill to discuss a $350 billion package of agreements for the Department of Defense.

Additional Funding Measures

The Trump administration is also planning to invest $56 billion in unmanned technology development as part of a broader strategy to sustain U.S. defense capabilities. White House officials have expressed concern over empty stockpiles observed since March, highlighting the urgency of the steps being taken to safeguard national security.

This development signals a serious threat to U.S. national security resulting from insufficient resources to maintain military operations. Activating the Defense Production Act and the planned investments in new technologies could help strengthen the country's defense capacity, but implementation will require time and effort to restore supply chains and production capabilities. Given current challenges, such measures may prove critical to the stability of U.S. defense in the future.

As the U.S. prioritizes its military readiness, the situation in Ukraine continues to demand significant attention and resources. The recent push to increase weapons production for Ukraine's defense underscores the interconnected nature of global security challenges. This parallel effort highlights the urgency of bolstering both domestic and international military capabilities in the face of escalating conflicts.
