Trump Confirms Khamenei's Death in Joint US-Israeli Operation
US Military Action Against Iran
According to Главком: In a phone interview with NBC News, US President Donald Trump justified military action against Iran, linking it to the country's nuclear program. He confirmed the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stating it resulted from a joint high-tech operation conducted by the United States and Israel. This development marks a significant escalation in the long-standing tensions between these nations. Trump characterized the conflict as potentially lasting several weeks, specifically describing it as a four-week process.
Trump stated that Iran was unwilling to halt its nuclear research and refused to declare an intent not to develop nuclear weapons. Channel 12 journalist Amit Segal reported that the Israeli Air Force carried out the strike on the complex where Khamenei was located, dropping 30 bombs.
Iran's Reaction and Subsequent Actions
On February 28, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the start of a preemptive strike against Iran. Following this statement, a series of explosions were heard in Tehran. Trump claimed there were 'many good results. The first is to decapitate them, to get rid of their entire group of murderers and thugs.' The attack occurred after repeated warnings from both the US and Israel.
“Our fundamental beliefs are crystal clear: Iran will under no circumstances ever develop a nuclear weapon; we Iranians will also never give up our right to use the dividends of peaceful nuclear technology for our people.”
Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Foreign Minister
Trump also noted that he did not know how long the conflict would last but believed it had always been envisioned as a four-week process.
The death of Ali Khamenei and the military actions by the US and Israel against Iran could substantially alter the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East. Iran, for its part, continues to insist on its peaceful nuclear energy intentions, a stance that may lead to further escalation. The international community is watching closely, as Tehran's response will likely shape the future of regional diplomacy and security.
