Upcoming Talks Between Trump and Xi Jinping

According to Главком: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to hold a conversation with Chinese leader Xi Jinping about the war in Iran, though he downplayed the need for assistance on the matter. Trump stated that the United States has the situation in Iran fully under control and asserted that the U.S. will prevail 'peacefully or by other means.' Trade will be the main topic of the upcoming negotiations.

Delegation Composition and Discussion Topics

The U.S. delegation includes 16 executives from leading American companies. The trip aims to discuss the creation of a bilateral investment and trade council. Initially, Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins was on the delegation list, but he will not be able to attend the meeting. Trump also intends to discuss with Xi Jinping the issue of arms sales to Taiwan, as well as the case of imprisoned media magnate Jimmy Lai.

“I don't think we need any help with Iran. We will win one way or another,” Trump noted.

Trump also emphasized that 'we have many topics to discuss; frankly, I wouldn't say Iran is one of them because we have Iran totally under control. We will either make a deal, or they will be destroyed.' Trump also spoke positively about Xi Jinping, stating that 'he has been relatively good, to be honest. If you look at the blockade, there are no problems. They get a lot of their oil from that region.'

China claims that Taiwan belongs to it, while Washington adheres to a one-China policy. Thus, the upcoming talks between Trump and Xi Jinping promise to be an important step in the development of bilateral relations, particularly on trade and security issues.

This meeting between the U.S. and Chinese presidents has the potential to shape new trade agreements that could impact the global economy. Amid ongoing tensions between the U.S. and China, especially regarding Taiwan, the ability of both countries to find common ground to reduce conflict risks is crucial. The negotiations may signal both leaders' intentions to stabilize relations and define priorities for cooperation in trade and security.

As the U.S. and China prepare for this crucial dialogue, it's essential to consider the broader implications of their negotiations, especially regarding regional stability. Recent calls from Washington for Beijing to exert influence on Tehran, particularly concerning the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, highlight the interconnectedness of these geopolitical issues.
