Trump’s Statement on Venezuela

According to Главком: In a conversation with Fox News host John Roberts, U.S. President Donald Trump floated the idea of Venezuela joining the United States as its 51st state, citing economic factors-specifically, the value of Venezuelan oil, which he estimated at $40 trillion. He also expressed intentions to run for president of Venezuela, claiming that

“Venezuela loves Trump.”

Political Shifts in Venezuela

Against this backdrop, the U.S. Treasury Department lifted sanctions on Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, removing her name from the list of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN). However, U.S. intelligence reports have raised doubts about her willingness to cooperate with the Trump administration.

Following the removal of Nicolás Maduro, Rodríguez freed some political prisoners and authorized the sale of 30 to 50 million barrels of oil to the United States. When asked about the country’s situation, she simply replied

“enough.”

These developments point to potential shifts in U.S.-Venezuela relations and a new political dynamic in the region.

These remarks and actions show that the Trump administration is seeking to intensify ties with Venezuela, especially given the economic benefits of its oil resources. Changes in Venezuela’s political leadership could open new diplomatic avenues, though questions remain about the stability and long-term intentions of the new authorities. Observers believe these events could significantly reshape the geopolitical landscape in Latin America and U.S. relations with countries in the region.
