Trump Outlines US Foreign Policy Stance in Major Interview

According to ХВИЛЯ: In a Thursday interview, former US President Donald Trump articulated his views on American foreign policy. He criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the company Anthropic, predicted the collapse of Cuba's regime, and stated the US intends to influence the selection of Iran's next leader. His comments also addressed a US military operation against Iran and the situation surrounding Cuba. These remarks come as Trump remains a dominant figure in US politics and a potential candidate in future elections.

On Military Action and Regional Situations

Speaking to POLITICO, Trump commented on US involvement in 'Epic Fury,' a military operation against Iran launched jointly with Israel on February 28. He asserted that 'we are acting surgically' and that the US has an 'unlimited supply of weapons' for this campaign. Trump expressed confidence that 'all they have left is resilience,' referring to Iran, whose army, he claimed, is 'shattered.'

Regarding Venezuela, Trump noted that 'we cut off all the oil, all the money.' He commented that following the capture of Nicolás Maduro by US special forces in January 2026, Delcy Rodríguez became the acting president of Venezuela. Trump was confident that 'Cuba will also fall,' adding that 'we are talking to Cuba' and 'they need help.'

On Iran's potential future leadership, Trump pointed to Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as a leading contender. He stated, 'we will work with the people and with the regime to ensure that someone comes to power who can rebuild Iran properly-but without nuclear weapons.' Trump emphasized that 'I exert major influence-otherwise there will be no settlement.'

Furthermore, Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating that 'Zelenskyy needs to get down to business and make a deal.' He expressed hope that 'Putin is ready to make a deal,' but noted that Zelenskyy has no 'trump cards,' and the situation has become even more difficult.

Trump on the company Anthropic: 'I threw them out like dogs-they shouldn't have acted that way.'

Highlighting the US military's successes, he said: 'You see how well Pete [US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth] is doing, and you see how well the army is doing. We have an incredible army.'

Donald Trump's statements signal a continuation of an assertive US foreign policy, particularly toward Iran and Cuba. The engagement in military operations and attempts to influence political changes in other countries demonstrate US resolve in pursuing its strategic goals. Such declarations may also impact international relations, especially within the context of the conflict in Ukraine and relations with Russia, warranting continued attention from the global community.
