Three-Way Talks Held in the UAE
According to Главком: A two-day round of trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia concluded in the capital of the United Arab Emirates on January 24. The delegations included not only diplomats but also military leaders from all three nations. The outcome of these discussions could significantly influence the work of the coalition of nations willing to provide security guarantees for Ukraine.
Focus on Technical Security Issues
The talks in the UAE aimed to address technical security matters, which were identified by the participating countries' military representatives. Following the initial meeting, a list of these issues was compiled for discussion in the next round. A second round of the trilateral negotiations is scheduled for Sunday, February 1, in Abu Dhabi.
- U.S. representative Alice Rufo stated that the talks' results could determine future progress on providing security guarantees for Ukraine.
- She noted that as early as next week, depending on the outcome of the UAE meeting, it will become clearer how to move forward and accomplish more than has been done so far.
- Rufo emphasized that despite the talks having only just concluded, significant progress has already been achieved.
These negotiations underscore the international community's growing focus on security in Ukraine, as well as an apparent willingness from both the U.S. and Russia to find common ground on this critical issue. The upcoming February round could prove decisive in shaping the next steps toward establishing comprehensive security mechanisms for Ukraine, marking a pivotal moment for regional stability. The talks represent a crucial step in forming those guarantees, opening avenues for further cooperation among the participants.
