According to glavcom.ua: Russian lugers have been stripped of their neutral statuses! The Arbitration Court of the International Luge Federation has decided to revoke the status of three Russian athletes. According to a statement from the Russian Luge Federation, Alexander Gorbatevich, Ksenia Shamova, and Sofia Mazur will no longer be counted among the neutral participants.

A month ago, the International Luge Federation informed the Russian Federation about its decision. After an appeal was filed, the court confirmed the refusal to grant neutral status. This means that Gorbatevich, Mazur, and Shamova will miss the Olympics.

The court's decision and its consequences

“The athletes filed an appeal, but the court dismissed it, confirming the Federation's decision. Consultations are currently ongoing,” said Natalia Hart, head of the Russian Federation.

Thus, they have lost the opportunity to participate in the Olympics in Italy. Earlier, six Russians were granted neutral status, but it was annulled due to violations of neutrality.

Previous decisions and the granting of neutral status

In October this year, the Sports Arbitration Court restored the right of Russian athletes to participate in competitions. At that time, six athletes received neutral status. However, after careful analysis, it was found that Gorbatevich, Mazur, and Shamova did not meet the requirements for such status.

Violations of the IOC recommendations

Neutral athlete Alexandra Syautina was spotted at an event with Putin, which is a violation of the International Olympic Committee's rules. Another Russian athlete posted photos indicating Syautina's involvement in propaganda events.

The 2026 Olympics will take place in Italy from February 6 to 22.
