Broader Eligibility Announced for Independence Day Payments Starting in 2026
Automatic Cash Assistance for Independence Day
According to Пенсії (RSS): Starting in 2026, Ukraine has expanded the list of categories eligible to receive automatic cash payments for Independence Day. The payment amounts were set by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 602, issued on May 13, 2026. The procedure for distributing these one-time payments was previously established under Resolution No. 1396, approved on December 27, 2023. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to provide social support around key national holidays.
Who Will Receive the Payments
In August 2026, pensioners and recipients of housing subsidies or utility benefits-who are not currently serving in the military-will receive their payments alongside their regular pension, subsidy, or benefit. Veterans of war who are on active duty will have the funds transferred to the accounts of their respective military units, institutions, or organizations.
Individuals who qualify for the payment but are not pensioners, subsidy or benefit recipients, and are not serving in the military must apply in person to a local office of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. They need to submit a free-form application that includes:
- details of identity documents;
- bank account number;
- tax identification number (if applicable);
- details of the certificate granting eligibility for the payment.
These new measures aim to strengthen social support for various groups of citizens in Ukraine ahead of an important national celebration. By recognizing the contributions of veterans, pensioners, and others, the government hopes to improve public welfare and encourage broader participation in Independence Day events. Given the current situation in Ukraine, such payments could significantly impact citizens' well-being and their ability to join in the holiday festivities.
As the government prepares to enhance social support for Independence Day, it's essential to understand the specific payment amounts set by recent resolutions.
