Ukrainian Teachers to Receive Two Pay Rises in 2026: 30% and 20% Increases
Ukrainian Teachers Set for Salary Increases in 2026
According to Кабмін: Teachers in Ukraine are scheduled to receive two separate pay rises in 2026. The first increase of 30% will take effect on January 1st. This rise will be in addition to the existing monthly supplements that educators continue to receive:
- 2,000 UAH for all teachers;
- 4,000 UAH for educators working in frontline communities.
This measure is designed to support teachers who continue their vital work amid the country's ongoing challenges. The education sector has been under immense strain since Russia's full-scale invasion, with many schools damaged and teaching conducted under frequent air raid alarms.
A second salary increase of 20% for all teaching staff is planned for September 1, 2026. These payments will be funded through the state educational subvention, supplemented by contributions from local government bodies.
"Ukrainian teachers remain by the children's side even in the most difficult times and continue to teach under conditions of constant alerts, shelling, and power outages."
Yuliia Svyrydenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine

Significance of the Salary Increases
The planned salary raises for Ukrainian teachers in 2026 represent a crucial step in supporting the educational sector, particularly given the wartime context and economic pressures. A state policy aimed at ensuring fair compensation for educators can positively influence education quality and motivate teachers to remain in the profession during this demanding period. This initiative also underscores the government's commitment to its teaching staff, who play a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation amidst ongoing crisis conditions.
