In Berlin, a breakthrough in peace negotiations: Ukraine will receive security guarantees without US troops
Negotiations in Berlin on the war in Ukraine
According to ХВИЛЯ: Important negotiations took place in Berlin regarding the cessation of the war in Ukraine, during which significant progress was made on security guarantees and economic recovery. The consultations lasted for two days, during which the parties managed to reach a consensus on approximately 90% of the defined issues. A notable achievement was that the security guarantees for Ukraine do not involve the deployment of American troops on its territory.
The meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and special envoys of US President Donald Trump lasted almost two hours. According to an American official, President Trump is ready to submit the agreement for ratification in the US Senate.
'This has to go through the Senate, and President Trump is ready to do that,' said an administration representative.
Key issues of discussion
The key issues discussed included:
- security guarantees for Ukraine;
- long-term economic survival of the country;
- territorial issues.
In particular, the US expressed confidence that Russia would accept the draft peace agreement with security guarantees for Ukraine.
'The parties reached a consensus on a number of critical issues,' the American official emphasized.
One of the important aspects of the negotiations was the discussion of a recovery plan for Ukraine with the participation of BlackRock and the World Bank. 'Guarantees similar to Article 5 of NATO will not be on the table forever,' warned the American official. Volodymyr Zelensky, for his part, noted: 'There has been enough dialogue on territories. It seems to me that we still have different positions.'
Thus, the outcomes of the negotiations in Berlin open up new opportunities for strengthening Ukraine's security and its economic recovery amid the ongoing crisis. These talks could become an important stage in the process of peacefully resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Achieving a consensus on most key issues indicates the parties' readiness for compromises, which could positively impact future international relations and economic stability in the region. At the same time, the openness to cooperation with international financial institutions such as the World Bank underscores the importance of economic recovery as a component of Ukraine's overall stability.
