In Borodyanka, Kyiv region, the first modular underground shelter has been built by the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine. This new structure is intended for the operational protection of the local population and is a quick and modern solution.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine – Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, modular shelters are an important standard protection measure for the local population, especially for communities living close to the front or border with the enemy. They provide quick, efficient, and reliable conditions when the threat of further attacks is real.

Construction and features of the shelter

The underground shelter in Borodyanka can accommodate up to 48 people and is located near a populated center alongside various social and administrative facilities. The structure includes inclusive adaptations for people with disabilities and has an automated access system.

The shelter installation was completed quickly - in just a month, from August 21 to September 10, 2025. The project cost amounted to UAH 5.5 million, including all necessary systems and equipment. It is planned that in the near future, another 5 similar shelters will be built in various parts of the city.

The first modular underground shelter has been established in Borodyanka, providing protection to the community in case of danger. The structure is modern and quickly assembled, making it an important asset for local residents. It is planned that the development of such shelters will continue in other areas to enhance the overall safety of the population.
