Traffic will be closed for a month on a popular route in Chernihiv
In Chernihiv, from April 21 to May 20, 2026, traffic will be completely closed on the section of Terytorial Defense/Ripkinska Street near the bridge. The restrictions are being implemented due to emergency recovery work on the water supply system, which runs through the central part of the roadway. This is reported by the Chernihiv City Council.
Traffic Closure in Chernihiv: Where Restrictions Will Apply
The work will be conducted on a critically important section of engineering networks that requires a complete road closure. Due to the location of the water pipe directly under the roadway, traffic will be impossible during repairs.
The restrictions will affect one of the popular urban routes, used daily by both private drivers and public transport. The city council emphasizes that the closure is necessary for restoring the stable operation of the water supply system.
Bypass for Chernihiv Transport: How Routes Will Change
During the works, the city will temporarily change the public transport routes. Buses and trolleybuses will operate on detour routes in both directions.
In particular, changes concern the following routes:
-
Route No. 26: from the stop “Aystra” through Textileknykiv Street, the new road to Shershtyanka, Ivan Mazepa Street, Victory Avenue, Zhabyinsky Street, Starobilisky Street, Ripkinska Street, Lyubetska Street - then along the usual route;
-
Route No. 25/25A: from the stop “School No. 18” through Dniprovska Street, Stepan Bandera Street, Textileknykiv Street, the new road to Shershtyanka, Ivan Mazepa Street, Peace Avenue - then along the established route;
-
Route No. 31: from the stop “School No. 18” through Dniprovska Street, Stepan Bandera Street, Textileknykiv Street, the new road to Shershtyanka, Ivan Mazepa Street, Victory Avenue - then along the usual route.
Bypasses for the closed section will be organized along defined directions in both directions of traffic. Drivers are advised to plan their routes in advance to avoid traffic jams and delays on the road.

The city authorities urge residents to consider temporary changes during their movements around the city. After the completion of the works, traffic on Terytorial Defense/Ripkinska Street is promised to be restored to normal.
It is reminded that on the night of April 19, Russian drones attacked Chernihiv, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old boy and four other people being injured.
