Dnipro has more low-floor trams on a separate route

Three new low-floor cars are already operating on tram route No. 1 in Dnipro. This means more comfortable and accessible trips for passengers, including those who use wheelchairs. By autumn, the city expects two more such trams. This was reported by the Dnipro City Council.

The new tram in Dnipro has 256 seats

The third car was purchased as part of a project funded by a credit line from the European Investment Bank. In total, Dnipro is set to receive five modern trams: the fourth is planned to arrive at the end of August and the fifth at the end of September.

The car provides for 256 seats, including 67 sitting places. The tram is equipped with air conditioning, video surveillance cameras, electronic displays, and an audio announcement system for stops.

For passengers with visual impairments, Braille signs have been installed. Information about the route and stops is also duplicated on the displays, which makes it easier for people with hearing impairments to use the transport.

Low-floor trams on route No. 1 are more accessible

The main difference of the new cars is the low floor and the folding ramp. Inside, there is a special space for a passenger in a wheelchair, equipped with a backrest and a safety belt.

Accessibility depends not only on the tram but also on the stops. Dnipro has already equipped 30 raised tram platforms. After the construction of two more is completed, their number will increase to 32.

The KP 'Dnipro Electrotransport' notes that the new cars carry more passengers, and the revenue from their operation is almost one and a half times higher than that of the previous generation trams. The city is also preparing tender documentation for the purchase of three more modern trams in 2027.
