In Dnipro, 160 cases of vandalism against public transport recorded since the beginning of 2026

More than 160 cases of damage to public transport and related infrastructure have been recorded in Dnipro since the beginning of 2026. Vandals are vandalizing stops and carriages, damaging interiors and breaking glass. The total damage to the city has already approached 1.5 million UAH. This is reported by Informator referring to the city council.

Vandalism in Dnipro transport caused 1.5 million UAH in damages

Most violations are related to stop complexes. More than 120 out of 160 recorded cases consist of graffiti and inscriptions. Municipal services are trying to clean them within a week.

The city is also recording broken windows at stops, on trams, trolleybuses, and buses. Damaged transport has to be temporarily removed from routes and directed to the depot, which creates additional pressure on transport operators.

According to Ivan Vasyuchkov, deputy head of the city transport department, after the beginning of the full-scale war, the number of such incidents initially sharply decreased. In the first two years, only two cases were recorded, both concerning stops.

Now the situation has changed. In just the first half of 2026, the number of damages to municipal property exceeded 160, and the estimated losses to the community are approximately 1.5 million UAH.

10 damages recorded in Dnipro trams and trolleybuses

There are 10 cases directly related to the rolling stock of the KP “Dnipro Electric Transport”. These include broken windows, damaged seats and interiors, as well as inscriptions on trams and trolleybuses.

'Unfortunately, more and more often such actions are committed by teenagers. After each incident, we transfer the materials to law enforcement agencies, but the offenders mostly manage to leave the scene,' noted the leading specialist of the enterprise, Nikita Kerentev.

Depending on the damage, repairs last from several days to a week. Depot employees are trying to quickly return transport to routes, but complex cases require the replacement of glass, interior parts, or restoration of coatings.

Throughout July, the enterprise has not recorded a single new case of damage to rolling stock. The city authorities have called on residents to protect municipal property and asked parents to explain to their children the responsibility for vandalism.
