Drug Courier Intercepted at Gdańsk Airport

According to Главком: Polish authorities at Gdańsk Airport have detained a man who attempted to smuggle cocaine, with a significant portion of the drugs concealed internally. The arrest occurred during a routine check of passengers arriving on a flight from London. A sniffer dog alerted officials to the man's luggage, where a capsule containing a white powder was discovered. Laboratory tests confirmed the substance was cocaine. The suspect had swallowed 88 additional capsules, bringing the total to 89. The total weight of the seized cocaine was approximately 800 grams, with an estimated black-market value of 300,000 Polish złoty, equivalent to over €70,000. A court has ordered the man to be held in custody for three months, and he now faces a potential prison sentence of up to 20 years.

Polish Authorities Disrupt Sanctions-Busting Ring

In a separate operation, Polish special services have dismantled a network supplying strategic technology to Russia. Five individuals were detained as part of an investigation into an organized criminal group specializing in circumventing European Union sanctions. Among those arrested are four Belarusian citizens and one Polish citizen. The group had planned to transport specialized equipment to Russia via transit through Belarus. The seized equipment included:

  • Components for manufacturing integrated circuits;
  • Missile guidance systems;
  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (drones);
  • Electronic warfare systems.

These incidents highlight the active role of Polish law enforcement in combating international crime, particularly concerning drug trafficking and sanctions evasion. Poland, as a key EU and NATO member on the bloc's eastern flank, maintains strict border controls. The airport arrest demonstrates the high level of security screening at its borders, while the operation against the criminal network underscores Poland's efforts to prevent the flow of dual-use technologies that could be used in military aggression against neighboring states. These cases reflect the broader challenge of dismantling criminal networks that pose a threat to regional security.
