Today, November 26, the Olympic flame for the upcoming Winter Games in Milan-Cortina 2026 was ceremoniously lit in Ancient Olympia. The ceremony took place at the Archaeological Museum of Olympia due to heavy rain and gusts of wind, rather than in the usual location near the Temple of Hera.

The flame was lit on Monday using a parabolic mirror and sunlight to avoid issues due to weather conditions. The flame was kept in a special lantern and today it was used to light the torch inside the museum.

Stages of the Flame Route

After the completion of the Greek part of the relay in Athens, the flame will be transferred to Italy on December 4. The relay will last for two months, passing through all regions of the country and famous tourist sites, such as the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Milan Cathedral, and others.

The journey of the Olympic flame will unite Italy and serve as a symbol of the approach of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. The opening ceremony of the Games will take place at the 'San Siro' stadium in Milan, where the flame of the Olympic fire will be ignited.
