Kharkiv has changed tram and trolleybus routes since January 19 due to blackout

In Kharkiv, from January 19, the operation of urban electric transport has been temporarily adjusted due to the lack of voltage. Some tram routes are operating on a shortened scheme, while one trolleybus has completely ceased operations. This was reported by the press service of the Kharkiv City Council.

The press service of the Kharkiv City Council stated that the restrictions were introduced on sections where stable operation of electric transport cannot be ensured due to power outages. The changes will remain in effect until the power supply is restored.

Changes in tram movement in Kharkiv due to lack of voltage

Due to the blackout, trams No. 16, 16A, 23, 27, and 30 are not running on Traktorobudivnykiv Avenue from the street of Neskorenyh to the turning circle 'Saltivske'. Currently, all mentioned routes only go to the intersection of the street of Neskorenyh and Traktorobudivnykiv Avenue, with a stop at 'Volodymyrska Church'.

The city council emphasizes that this decision was made for safety and infrastructure preservation in conditions of unstable power supply.

Trolleybus operation and alternative transport

Trolleybus route No. 35 is temporarily not operational. Meanwhile, a temporary bus No. 35 has been organized on the street of Hvardiytsiv-Shyronintsi. It runs the route from Pivnichna Saltivka to Odeska Street to ensure transport connections for the residents of the area.

The city council noted that information about the resumption of the regular schedule will be announced separately after stabilizing the electricity situation.

The blackout in Kharkiv was a result of morning attacks by Russian troops on January 19. According to city mayor Ihor Terekhov, a critical infrastructure facility was hit. During the day, the city also suffered attacks from multiple rocket launchers, drones, and guided air bombs, resulting in injuries and damaged buildings.

It is worth noting that in Kharkiv, they are testing Italian 12-meter Irisbus buses on the snow.
