Heating Crisis in Kyiv Following Attacks

According to ХВИЛЯ: Approximately 2,600 apartment buildings in Kyiv are still without heating following Russian missile strikes, with the left bank of the capital suffering the most severe damage. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko provided this update via Telegram. This situation highlights the ongoing challenges for Ukrainian cities during the winter months as they endure attacks on civilian infrastructure.

The affected buildings are those requiring reconnection for a second time after assaults on the city's critical infrastructure on January 9 and January 20. The January 20 attack alone initially left 5,635 multi-story buildings without heat. Residents on the left bank have lost not only heating but also water supply. Local authorities acknowledge the complexity of the situation and are working to restore services.

Critical Infrastructure Vulnerability Exposed

These events underscore the acute vulnerability of Kyiv's critical infrastructure during wartime. The lack of heat and running water in winter creates severe additional hardships for residents, demanding an urgent response from municipal authorities and utility companies.

Restoring these essential services remains a vital priority for ensuring a basic standard of living for the capital's citizens.
