Power Restoration Efforts Continue in Kyiv as Over 800,000 Remain Without Electricity

Power Supply Situation in Kyiv

According to Главком: More than 800,000 customers in Kyiv remain without electricity. Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal provided this update during a meeting of the Emergency Response Headquarters. Repair crews are currently working to restore power, with two cogeneration units already deployed to the capital. Two more units are expected to arrive next week. Additionally, 50 tons of diesel fuel have been directed to Kyiv from the reserves of the Ministry of Energy. These widespread outages are a direct result of Russia's ongoing campaign to target Ukraine's civilian energy infrastructure.

Repair Work Following Attacks

Throughout the day, 166 crews worked to repair damage from attacks, with 74 crews scheduled to continue overnight. Tomorrow, 17 repair crews from Chernihiv, Ternopil, Poltava, and Vinnytsia are planned to arrive in Kyiv, with another 20 brigades on standby if needed. These emergency restoration efforts follow a massive attack that occurred on January 24th.

Tragically, a rescue worker and high-altitude specialist, Oleksandr Pytaichuk, was killed while performing his duties at an energy facility in the capital. As of January 25th, 1,400 'Invincibility Points' are operational in Kyiv. Denys Shmyhal emphasized the critical need to maximize the autonomy of base stations so people can stay connected and access information under any conditions.
