Traffic Disrupted in Kyiv After Overnight Russian Attack
Kyiv Attack on June 15
According to Главком: During the night of June 15, Kyiv came under a Russian assault that killed at least 4 people and injured over 20. The attack involved drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Residential buildings, warehouses, infrastructure sites, and dozens of vehicles were hit. Among the damaged sites was the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, where a fire broke out on the roof of the Dormition Cathedral.
Aftermath in the Kyiv Region
In the Kyiv region, strikes were recorded in the Brovary, Boryspil, Bucha, Vyshhorod, and Fastiv districts, where 3 people were injured, including a child. Fires were observed in warehouses, private homes, and cars.
Authorities closed several streets in the capital:
- Brativ Zerovykh Street
- Berezhanska Street
- Vasyl Ivanys Street
as well as sections near Lukyanivska metro station and the Pushcha-Vodytsia area. Traffic is blocked at the intersection of Tsytadelna and Ivan Mazepa streets.
Damage to the overhead power lines forced temporary rerouting of some public transport. Trams No. 12 and No. 19 now run between Kontraktova Ploshcha metro station and the Podil tram repair depot. Tram No. 17 has been replaced by a temporary bus route from Yordanska Street to Semen Skliarenko Street. Trolleybuses No. 6 and No. 18 will go to Maidan Nezalezhnosti and European Union Avenue, trolleybus No. 32 to Pivnichna Street and Minska metro station, and trolleybus No. 33 from the Southern Railway Station to European Union Avenue. Trolleybus No. 38 continues to Yevhen Konovalets Street, while trolleybuses No. 28 and No. 31 head to the Povitrianykh Syl overpass. Buses No. 24 and No. 25 are temporarily running to Slavy Square.
This attack marks another tragic chapter in Kyiv’s recent history, highlighting ongoing security concerns in the region. The conflict in Ukraine continues to inflict severe harm on civilians and infrastructure, challenging both local authorities and the international community, which is responding to the escalating situation. It remains crucial for international organizations and countries to keep supporting Ukraine in defending its territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
