Kyiv to Host Weekend Farmers' Markets: Locations for Fresh Potatoes and Produce
Agricultural Markets Scheduled for Kyiv
According to Главком: Farmers' markets will be held across Kyiv this weekend, on February 28 and March 1, as announced by the city's Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development. These events come at a time when Ukraine is experiencing a notable price increase for potatoes, which have risen by an average of 17% since the start of the week. Ukrainian producers are currently offering potatoes for 7-14 UAH per kilogram, a price that is 17% higher than the previous week. Such markets are a common way for residents to buy fresh, local food directly from growers.
Market Locations and Details

However, due to quarantine restrictions, markets will NOT be held at the following addresses:
- 25/2-29 Novopyrohivska Street in the Holosiivskyi district,
- 1-5 Petra Kalnyshevskoho Street and 1-9 Iordanska Street in the Obolonskyi district.
In addition to the weekend markets, several municipal markets in Kyiv will remain open for business:
- KP Volodymyrskyi Market at 115 Antonovycha Street,
- KP Zhytnii Market at 16 Verkhnii Val Street,
- KP Bessarabskyi Market at 2 Bessarabska Square.
The organization of these farmers' markets during a period of rising potato prices represents a significant effort to support both local producers and consumers. By enabling residents to purchase goods directly from the source, the markets may help alleviate some price pressures. Nonetheless, ongoing pandemic-related measures continue to impact public events, potentially limiting access for some Kyiv residents.
