Kyiv to Launch Public Interactive Map Highlighting Bicycle Infrastructure Issues with Cyclist Input
Київ розпочне створення інтерактивної карти, що демонструє проблеми велоінфраструктури з урахуванням думки велосипедистів.

Developing an Interactive Map of Bicycle Infrastructure Challenges in Kyiv

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: Kyiv is set to introduce a publicly accessible interactive map that will pinpoint problem areas within the city's bicycle infrastructure, created with direct input from cyclists. This initiative is led by the Kyiv Cyclists Association (U-Cycle). A meeting to gather cyclist experiences and prioritize key issues will take place on November 6 at 6:00 PM in the U-Cycle office, located at 22 Mezhyhirska Street, office 8, Podil district.

Purpose of the Meeting

The goal of this event is to collect firsthand accounts from cyclists to identify hazardous spots and pressing concerns regarding Kyiv’s cycling network. The Women Cycling Club, which recently conducted its own study on Kyiv’s bike infrastructure, is also collaborating on the map. Once completed, this interactive tool will allow the public to monitor the condition of the city's bike routes. Data gathered will serve as a foundation to advocate for improvements with municipal authorities.

“We want to hear about your everyday experiences: where you feel unsafe, which routes you avoid, where you have to dismount, and locations where cycling is simply impossible,” the organizers emphasize.

Everyone is encouraged to share their stories, observations, and specific examples of challenges faced while using Kyiv’s bike infrastructure, along with suggestions for enhancements.

The meeting is open to all cyclists in Kyiv interested in contributing to the development of safer and more efficient bike routes. Prior registration is required to participate.

This community-driven project aims to enhance Kyiv’s cycling infrastructure and improve safety for cyclists across the city.

Creating an interactive map to highlight problematic sections of Kyiv’s bike network marks a significant step toward better urban cycling conditions. Engaging the cycling community ensures the most critical areas are identified for targeted improvements. Beyond data collection, this project empowers advocates to push for meaningful changes with city officials, ultimately promoting safer and more comfortable cycling throughout the capital.
