According to Главком: On June 16, bomb disposal experts in Kyiv’s Desnianskyi district located and neutralized the warhead of a Geran-2 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The dangerous component was discovered in an open area during the latest large-scale attack on the capital. Specialists from the Kyiv police explosive ordnance disposal unit rendered the munition safe and removed it for subsequent destruction.
Separately, in the Shevchenkivskyi district, another Geran-2 kamikaze drone warhead was found. A passerby spotted the hazardous device near a roadway at a traffic interchange. Officers from the local police department cordoned off the area, and bomb technicians later recovered the munition for controlled disposal at a firing range.
Tragedy in Solomianskyi District
During a Russian nighttime assault on Kyiv on June 15, a drone struck a nine-story residential building in the Solomianskyi district. The impact sparked a fire that destroyed several apartments. Among the victims were a woman named Valentyna and her husband, known to neighbors as Yuzik. The UAV hit their sixth-floor unit. Valentyna was approximately 75 years old, and her husband was a month shy of turning 85. The couple had lived in that building since 1975.
