Ukraine Launches New School Nutrition Program: What Changes Await Children
According to Міністерство Здоров'я: A international summit 'Food from Ukraine' has taken place in Kyiv – a new idea of the initiative 'Grain from Ukraine'. Issues of global food security were discussed with the participation of representatives from over 40 countries and leading international organizations.
Special attention was paid to the problem of child nutrition. According to WHO research - COSI, almost 23% of Ukrainian children aged 6–8 are overweight, with more than 9% suffering from obesity. This is evidenced by insufficient physical activity, lack of vegetables and fruits in the diet, and overeating sweets and salty foods.
The summit also presented the results of the school nutrition reform and its main tasks - to provide all children with quality and healthy food.
Even during the war, Ukraine demonstrates that it is a reliable partner in global food stability issues and is developing new approaches to school nutrition.
Ukraine participated in the international summit 'Food from Ukraine', where issues of global food security and child nutrition problems were discussed. According to research, more than 20% of Ukrainian children are overweight, which requires concrete measures to improve the situation.
