Major Drug Operation in Kyiv

According to Прокуратура Київ: Kyiv law enforcement has apprehended two men suspected of possessing illegal drugs with the intent to sell. Searches of the suspects' residence, vehicle, and garage uncovered a quantity of cocaine and 364 pills containing the psychotropic substance MDMA, all prepared for distribution.

Case Details and Legal Proceedings

The suspects, aged 39 and 33, were detained under Article 208 of Ukraine's Criminal Procedure Code. The Desnianska District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv is overseeing the case. The men have been formally notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 307 of Ukraine's Criminal Code.

The Desnianskyi District Court of Kyiv has ordered the suspects to be held in custody without the option of bail. The charges they face carry a potential prison sentence of 9 to 12 years, along with the confiscation of property.

This bust highlights the ongoing efforts of Ukrainian authorities to combat the illicit drug trade, a persistent challenge for the nation. MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, is a synthetic drug often associated with nightlife and party scenes. The operation is part of a broader campaign aimed at reducing the availability of narcotics on the market and prosecuting those involved in drug-related crimes.
