Clients were instructed to travel to the Chernivtsi border zone and wait up to a week for the crossing to take place. The cost of the service was set at $17,000, with a $1,000 deposit required upfront. The arrests were made as the suspects were receiving the remaining $16,000 payment.

A pre-trial detention measure has been imposed, with the option of posting bail set at 660,000 Ukrainian hryvnias (roughly $17,800) for each suspect. If convicted under the relevant article, they face up to nine years in prison along with asset forfeiture.

In another scheme, a 38-year-old Kyiv businessman offered a 30-year-old conscription-eligible man help for $25,000 by providing fake medical documents to avoid military service.
