Criminal Investigations into Sexual Violence Against Minors in Ukraine

According to Главком: Ukraine continues to pursue criminal investigations into cases involving sexual violence against minors. In one incident, a 52-year-old Kyiv resident has been charged with lewd acts against an eight-year-old girl at a medical facility in the Solomianskyi district. The assault took place in a hospital restroom, where the man allegedly locked the child in a toilet stall and threatened her before forcing her to undress. He fled after being startled by noises outside the door. Law enforcement identified him within hours, and a search of his apartment uncovered a mobile phone containing pornographic photos and videos involving minors. The suspect was detained under Article 208 of Ukraine’s Criminal Procedure Code and charged under Part 2 of Article 156 of the Criminal Code (corruption of minors), which carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison. He will remain in custody during the pretrial investigation.

Additional Cases of Sexual Violence

In Kyiv, a 57-year-old man is also set to stand trial on charges of producing child pornography and sexually assaulting three neighbor girls. One victim is eight years old, while the other two are each twelve. The crimes allegedly occurred in the man’s apartment in the Desnianskyi district. According to investigators, he worked as a cash-in-transit courier.

Separately, prosecutors from the Kamianets-Podilskyi District Prosecutor’s Office in Khmelnytskyi region have sent a case to court involving violence against a young child. The sexual abuse reportedly took place between 2017 and 2020, as well as during 2024–2025. The victim was five years old when the abuse began and thirteen when it ended. These three cases highlight the severity of child sexual violence in Ukraine and underscore the importance of law enforcement responses to such crimes.

These incidents reflect an urgent need for stronger measures to protect children from sexual violence and rights violations in Ukraine. The growing number of cases related to sexual offenses points to the necessity of improving law enforcement and judicial systems, as well as implementing social programs that can help prevent such crimes in the future.

The alarming trend of child exploitation in Ukraine continues to unfold, as demonstrated by a recent case where a Kyiv man was apprehended for distributing child pornography through a messaging app. This incident underscores the urgent need for heightened vigilance and action against such heinous crimes.
