According to Главком: Police in Kyiv have detained a 32-year-old woman suspected of a series of thefts targeting high-value items from jewelry stores. The suspect operated by posing as a customer, a tactic that allowed her to discreetly steal merchandise. The value of some stolen pieces reached 200,000 Ukrainian hryvnias. Her arrest was made under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine immediately after she stole a gold chain. She has been formally notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a potential penalty of up to eight years of imprisonment. The suspect will remain in custody for the duration of the pre-trial investigation.

The case is being handled by investigators and operatives from the Svyatoshynskyi Police Department, in cooperation with the criminal investigation unit, with procedural oversight from the Svyatoshyn District Prosecutor's Office. According to police, the woman varied the stores and city districts she targeted to avoid detection, and subsequently sold the stolen jewelry through various pawn shops.
"At present, law enforcement officers have established at least five episodes of theft committed by her. In particular, it has been established that the value of some stolen items reached UAH 200,000," the police reported.
