Man sentenced for raping 13-year-old girl
Чоловіка засудили до 15 років позбавлення волі в Кіровоградській області за тяжкий злочин проти неповнолітньої дівчини.

Conviction for Sexual Assault on a Minor

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: A 52-year-old man in the Kirovohrad region received a 15-year prison sentence after being found guilty of raping a 13-year-old girl. The crime took place in November 2024. The perpetrator, who was known to the victim’s family and had gained their trust, was alone with the girl and threatened her with physical harm. Following the assault, the girl became pregnant and gave birth in August 2025. The court ordered the man to pay 300,000 hryvnias in compensation for the moral damage caused.

The Malovyskivskyi District Court convicted the man under Part 4, Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, imposing the maximum penalty of 15 years imprisonment. During the trial, the defendant admitted guilt and requested a lighter sentence, but the court rejected this, citing insincere remorse and attempts to shift blame onto the victim and her mother. The court also took into account the victim’s young age, the severe impact of the crime on her health, and the defendant’s prior convictions for rape.

Ongoing Cases of Child Sexual Abuse Across Ukraine

In addition to this case, investigations continue into other instances of sexual violence against children in Ukraine. In Kyiv, a 26-year-old man was detained for 60 days without bail on charges of raping an 8-year-old boy and repeated sexual abuse. In the Kyiv region, a 47-year-old Uzbek national is suspected of repeatedly raping his 7-year-old stepdaughter, whom he was alone with for several months during which the abuse occurred. These incidents highlight the urgent and widespread issue of child sexual exploitation in the country.

Child sexual abuse remains a critical concern in Ukraine, drawing significant attention from society and human rights advocates. Harsh penalties, such as those imposed in these cases, represent a crucial step toward addressing this crime. At the same time, there is a pressing need for strengthened prevention efforts and educational programs aimed at stopping such offenses before they happen.
