Cultural and Artistic Hub 'VTSILILO' Unveiled in Krasnokutsk Featuring Slobozhansky Easter Egg Motifs
Launch of the 'VTSILILO' Cultural and Artistic Space
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On October 10, Krasnokutsk celebrated the debut of a new cultural and artistic venue named 'VTSILILO. Symbols of Eternal Life.' This initiative draws inspiration from authentic Krasnokutsk Easter egg (pysanka) designs, combining museum research with contemporary art, supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation. Three metal installations representing Slobozhansky pysanky were installed in Vyhynchansky Park as part of the project.
Meaning Behind the Installations
The installations bear symbolic titles reflecting their unique motifs:
- Rebirth is inspired by the 'Many-Petaled Flower' pattern
- Memory features the 'Tree of Life' design
- Resilience centers on the 'Infinity' symbol
The core of this project relies on a collection of Slobozhansky pysanky preserved at the Kharkiv Historical Museum named after M. F. Sumtsov. These artifacts are linked to the work of ethnographer Mykola Sumtsov. Ethnologist Olena Pantelei conducted detailed research tracing the local origins of the patterns used.
During the opening event, over 50 participants-including youth, families of veterans and Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen, internally displaced persons, as well as local residents and visitors-took part in a pysanka painting workshop. This hands-on session was led by Krasnokutsk artist Olha Rybka alongside her students. The folk band 'YARY' provided live music to enrich the celebration.
The 'VTSILILO' project is a collaborative effort initiated by Krasnokutsk entrepreneurs in partnership with the Krasnokutsk Village Council, the Kharkiv Historical Museum named after M. F. Sumtsov, and the NGO 'Green Art Tour.' Throughout September and October, Vyhynchansky Park hosted a series of cultural events, including four open pysanka workshops designed to emphasize the value of cultural heritage and strengthen community bonds through traditional crafts.
The inauguration of the 'VTSILILO' cultural and artistic space marks a significant milestone in preserving and promoting Ukrainian cultural heritage, fostering unity around traditional values within the community.
This initiative not only showcases the rich artistry of Slobozhansky motifs but also actively engages young people and diverse community groups in cultural activities that enhance social cohesion and mutual understanding. Projects like this play a crucial role in nurturing local culture, especially amid contemporary challenges.
