In Kryvyi Rih, a large-scale update of city transport is planned for 2026 - over 56 million UAH has been allocated for the repair of 54 units. The largest expenses will be on buses, which have not been repaired at all before. This is reported by First Kryvyi Rih referring to the city authorities.

Transport repair in Kryvyi Rih 2026: what will be renewed

The city plans to conduct both medium and capital repairs of various types of transport. The main focus is on trams, but buses remain the most expensive.

In 2026, the following is planned:

  1. 45 trams - medium repair

  2. 1 tram - capital restoration repair

  3. 5 trolleybuses

  4. 3 buses.

In total, this is 54 units of transport. The largest share of funds will go to trams - over 35.3 million UAH, or about 768 thousand UAH per unit.

Transport expenses: buses became the most expensive

The largest expenses in 2026 will be on buses. Almost 19.5 million UAH is allocated for the repair of three units, which is approximately 6.5 million UAH each.

Trolleybuses will be much cheaper:

  • 5 units - 10.2 million UAH

  • about 2.05 million UAH for each

This shows a sharp gap in repair costs between different types of transport.

Transport repair in Kryvyi Rih: how expenses have changed

Over the past six years, hundreds of transport units have been repaired in the city, but prices have increased significantly. In 2020–2025, the following were updated:

  • 271 trams

  • 36 trolleybuses.

Total expenses exceeded 158 million UAH. Meanwhile, the average cost of tram repairs increased from less than 100 thousand UAH in 2020 to almost 1 million UAH in 2025.

Trolleybuses also became more expensive: from about 600–700 thousand UAH per unit to almost 2 million UAH.

It is worth noting separately about buses: in previous years they were not repaired at all. However, purchases were made - in 2020 and 2023, the city purchased 13 buses for 116 million UAH. Only in 2026 did they allocate funds for their maintenance.

The increase in transport repair costs appears to be systemic and reflects both inflation and equipment wear. For residents, this means a chance for a more stable public transport system, but also greater pressure on the budget.

It is worth recalling that on May 3, in Kryvyi Rih, due to a Russian strike on a 9-story building, 5 people were injured, among them 2 children. The incident occurred when a strike was made on a residential building, resulting in a fire on the 6th floor.
