Approximately 7,000 residents call this area home. The construction of this expansive neighborhood began in 1969, based on designs by architects Vasyl Malovytskyi and Rostyslav Metelnytskyi. Today, residents are actively upgrading their homes by integrating modern energy-saving technologies.

From Early Settlement to Ongoing Renovations

The complex welcomed its first residents in 1980 when initial apartments were completed. Lyubov Lapchenko, who moved in that year, recalls the early days:

"It was quite an adventure. I saw a man pass by three times and then he asked me how to find his way out. I can navigate through a forest, but here, it was confusing." - Lyubov Lapchenko

Valeriy Havruk, a resident since 1996, shares his memories as well:

"Living in our proud building 33, I remember the days when combine harvesters were still operating nearby. There was some confusion at first, but no major instances of getting lost." - Valeriy Havruk

The community has been proactive in improving the complex’s energy efficiency and infrastructure by:

• insulating attics and walls;
• upgrading hot water pipes;
• installing new windows in both shared spaces and individual apartments.

Emilia Khimochka highlights these efforts: "Communications have been replaced, attics and walls insulated, hot water pipes updated, and windows installed throughout common areas and apartments."

According to Oleksandr Kotys, head of the Cultural Heritage Protection Department of Lutsk City Council, the complex is built on a continuous foundation with multiple branching sections. He comments, "While the complex rests on a solid base, its segmented structure has sparked local tales about it holding a world record. This legend isn’t far from the truth."

As a result, this Lutsk residential complex remains not only a vital living space for thousands but also an architectural landmark, drawing attention for its unique design and the residents’ ongoing modernization initiatives. Its history illustrates how long-term habitation combined with community-driven improvements can enhance living standards while preserving regional architectural heritage.
