In Lutsk, a discussion on increasing the fare to 24 UAH took place
In Lutsk, they may increase the fare in city minibuses from 18 to 24 UAH. The issue of reviewing the tariff was discussed on May 6 by transporters, representatives of the city authorities, and residents during a round table at the Administrative Services Center. This was reported by Suspilne.
The cost of fares in Lutsk is planned to be reviewed due to transporters' expenses
In the city council, they explain that the main reason for the possible increase in fare is the costs of transporting passengers. According to the director of the economic policy department, Borys Smal, fuel alone has increased by 65% in the recent period.
Significant increases in expenses for transport repairs, spare parts, insurance, and employee salaries have also been noted. Transporters have appealed to the authorities requesting a review of the current tariff, which is currently 18 UAH per trip.
According to the official, the economic calculations of transport companies showed an even higher fare. At the same time, after analyzing prices, the department concluded that a tariff of 24 UAH would allow transporters to operate with a profitability of about 10%.
Transporters report a shortage of drivers and rising costs
Representatives of transport companies stated that the actual cost of transportation already significantly exceeds the proposed 24 UAH. The director of one of the companies, Lyudmyla Hnevyk, reported that transporters calculated that one trip should cost 28-30 UAH.
She mentioned that diesel fuel has almost doubled in price over the past two years, rising from 43 to 90 UAH per liter. Insurance costs have tripled, and spare parts have increased by about 50%.
In addition, transport companies are facing a shortage of drivers and auto mechanics. Due to competition for workers, companies are forced to continually raise salaries.
Lutsk residents react differently to the possible fare increase
During the discussion, city residents expressed various opinions regarding the new tariff. Some residents believe the increase is inevitable due to the overall rise in fuel and transport maintenance costs.
Local resident Myron Kozak noted that price increases are occurring in almost all areas right now, so he is not surprised by the fare hike.
The final decision on the new tariff is to be made by the executive committee of the Lutsk city council after the discussions are completed.
Earlier, we reported that on April 6, a shooting occurred in Lutsk at Teatralnyi Square, carried out by a young girl.
