In Lviv, traffic on the bridge in a popular direction has fully reopened
In Lviv, traffic has fully reopened on the bridge on Kulparkivska Street. After several months of repairs, all work on the upper part of the overpass has been completed, so as of today, all lanes in both directions are available for transport. This is reported by the Lviv City Council.
The Department of Housing and Infrastructure stated that expansion joints on the bridge have been poured with concrete, asphalt has been updated, and road markings have been applied. Repairs were conducted in stages to avoid completely closing the traffic: initially, vehicles used the central lanes while the outer ones were being repaired, then vice versa. Work under the bridge will continue, but it will not affect traffic.
Bridge repairs on Kulparkivska Street: what has been updated
The bridge has received updates that are critically important for traffic safety:
- concreting of all expansion joints
- asphalting of central and outer lanes
- applying new markings.
The department emphasizes that all these works were necessary for the extension of the structure's lifespan.
Emergency state: why the bridge required immediate intervention
At the beginning of the year, specialists from Lviv Polytechnic National University and relevant services examined the overpass and discovered numerous damages to structural elements. As a result, restrictions were introduced: heavy vehicles were prohibited, and public transport was moved to the left lane.
The Kulparkivsky Bridge is one of the key transport hubs of the city, connecting several large districts. Its partial closure caused significant delays in traffic, so the reopening of all lanes will noticeably ease traffic flow.
