Lviv Implements Two Distinct Air Raid Alert Levels Starting October 12
Introducing New Air Raid Alert Categories in Lviv
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: Beginning October 12, Lviv will adopt a two-tier air raid warning system: a yellow alert signaling a threat from strike drones, and a red alert indicating an imminent danger from missiles, missile-drones, or mass drone attacks. These protocols were established by the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers in resolutions No. 1092 dated September 4 and No. 1128 dated September 15.
The alert signals will be broadcast through sirens accompanied by voice announcements specifying the threat level. The yellow alert message will be repeated three times within 30 seconds, while the red alert will sound twice over the course of one minute. When the threat subsides, a female voice will announce the all-clear without sirens; this message will last 20 seconds and be repeated twice.
Safety Advisory for Residents
The City Department for Civil Protection and Territorial Defense urges citizens to follow safety instructions carefully. Upon the yellow alert, the announcement will state: 'Attention citizens! Air raid alert - yellow threat level! Please proceed immediately to a shelter or a safe location.' For the red alert, the message will be: 'Attention citizens! Air raid alert - red threat level! Please move without delay to a shelter or a safe place.'
These alerts are transmitted by the Ukrainian Air Force through dedicated warning systems, aiming to enhance public safety in Lviv amid evolving aerial threats.
The introduction of these new alert levels reflects the increasing aerial risks associated with ongoing military conflicts. Clear, timely communication is vital to ensure that residents can respond promptly and protect themselves effectively. This upgraded warning system is part of a broader effort to strengthen civil defense measures across Ukraine.
