Starting from May 16, 2026, the cost of travel in all public transport in Lviv is changing. The most expensive option will be paying cash to the driver - for one trip, you will have to pay 30 hryvnias. The new tariffs will apply to buses, trams, and trolleybuses in the city. This is reported by Lviv City Council.
New travel tariffs in Lviv will come into effect on May 16
The city hall explained that the tariff will now depend on the method of payment for the trip.
The new prices are as follows:
-
30 UAH - cash payment to the driver;
-
26 UAH - payment by bank card or NFC device;
-
23 UAH - payment via 'LeoCart' or mobile application;
-
11.5 UAH - student tariff with a personalized card.
There is also a change in the cost of luggage transportation. With cashless payment, it will be 23 hryvnias, while cash payment will cost 30 hryvnias.
Subscriptions and fines will also increase in Lviv
The monthly subscription for all types of public transport will now cost 1150 hryvnias for the general passenger category.
For students, the cost of the travel card will be 575 hryvnias.
In addition, the city is raising the fine for traveling without a ticket or an unvalidated trip. From now on, it will reach 520 hryvnias.
Inspectors will monitor compliance with the new rules on all public transport routes in Lviv.
Why did Lviv raise the cost of travel
According to Lviv City Council, the main reason for the revision of tariffs was the sharp increase in costs for transporting passengers.
According to the city hall, in just one year, the price of diesel fuel has nearly doubled - from 48 hryvnias to over 90 hryvnias per liter.
The cost of transportation has also been affected by expenses for transport repairs, electricity, and infrastructure maintenance.
For Lviv residents, this means that the cheapest payment method will remain 'LeoCart' or a mobile application. At the same time, cash payment will become the most expensive travel option in the city.
We remind you that on May 19, public transport routes in Lviv will change due to a major repair of Heroes of UPA Street.
