Starting May 19, public transport routes in Lviv will change due to repairs on Heroes of UPA Street
Starting May 19, the movement of public transport in Lviv will change due to large-scale repairs on Heroes of UPA Street. During the work, some trolleybus and bus routes will take detours, and the street will be completely closed to traffic. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.
One of the main transport streets in Lviv will be repaired
The repair of Heroes of UPA Street will be carried out in three stages. The total length of the section is 1.4 kilometers.
During the work, it is planned to:
- replace curbs;
- raise manholes to road level;
- remove old asphalt;
- lay new road surface.
The work will be carried out by the company «Onur» with deferred payment.
The city council notes that the last major repair of the street was done in the early 1990s, and now it is in extremely unsatisfactory condition due to heavy traffic.
How transport routes in Lviv will change
The first stage of repairs will last on the section from Stepan Bandera Street to Vasilkivskogo Street. The work there may take up to four weeks.
During this time, public transport will operate on modified routes:
- trolleybuses №22 and №30 will go through Saint George Square, Sheptytsky Street, Kropyvnytsky Square, Hordoytska Street, and Kulparkivska;
- bus №7 will operate through Hordoytska and Kulparkivska;
- bus №33 will change its route via Saint George Square, Metropolitan Andrey Street, and Hordoytska.
Detours will be organized for private transport
During the repairs, Heroes of UPA Street will be completely closed to public and private transport.
For cars, detours will be organized:
- via Hordoytska Street;
- via Kyivska and Rusovyh Streets.
The Lviv City Council also stated that after the repairs are completed, they may consider the possibility of arranging lanes for public transport on Heroes of UPA Street.
In recent years, road and transport infrastructure in Lviv has been actively updated, including the city's central highways.
For Lviv residents, this means temporary changes in transport traffic and possible traffic jams in the area of repair works for at least the coming weeks.
It is worth reminding that in Ternopil, due to road surface repairs, part of Veselya Street has been temporarily closed. The restrictions will be in effect from May 11 to May 24 on the section of Veselya Street from the intersection with Petrushovych Street to house No. 23.
