The First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky reported that the production sown areas in Ukraine for the next season will remain at last year's level, but 270 thousand hectares of demined land will be added. This is only 1% of the total sown area of 20 million hectares.

He also noted that they are working with basic crops such as wheat, corn, barley, and there are plans to grow sugar beets and vegetables as part of an overall sowing plan of 20 million hectares.

Forecast for cereal harvest

As for the wheat harvest forecast, it is expected that 21.2 million tons will be harvested in 2025, which is 5% less than the previous year. Wheat exports are estimated to be between 15-16 million tons. The barley harvest volume is also expected to decrease by 10% to 4.5 million tons, with exports at 2.2-2.3 million tons.

The ministry does not anticipate problems with buckwheat and calls for calm regarding the domestic market and exports of this crop.

During a meeting with media representatives, the first deputy minister emphasized the importance of planning and prudent resource use to maintain stability in the development of the agrarian sector in Ukraine. It is interesting to know how the increase in sown areas and the projected harvests affect the country's economy and the dynamics of grain markets.
